120 grams dried Spaghetti

4 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 1/2 Tablespoons Coarse Sea Salt (for the Pasta Water)

1 1/2 liters Water (to cook pasta

How To Make This Recipe

  1. First let’s gather all the ingredients and kitchen tools/equipment we need to make this recipe.
  2. Fill the pot up with cold water and bring to a boil. Set temperature to maximum heat.
  3. While the water is heating up, let’s peel and slice the garlic thin.
  4. Once the water has boiled add the sea salt and bring back up to a boil.
  5. Once water boils, add the pasta. Give it a stir and allow it to cook. Stir the pasta occasionally.
  6. While the pasta is cooking let’s cook the garlic. Add extra virgin olive oil and garlic to a cold frying pan and set the cooking temperature to low. It should take about 2-3 minutes to cook. Keep an eye on the garlic because we don’t want it to burn. Using a ladle, add about 1/2 cup of the pasta water to the pan with the garlic and oil.
  7. Cook the pasta 1-2 minutes less than the recommended al dente time on the pasta package because we will finish cooking the pasta in the pan. Once the pasta has reached the cooking time, remove the pasta from the pot and add to the pan.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  1. Cook the pasta al dente so that it does not overcook and become mushy.
  2. Cook the garlic on low so that it doesn’t burn. If it burns you will get a bitter taste. You can also add a bit of the pasta water to the garlic to prevent the garlic from burning.
  3. No need to add oil to the pasta water.
