Step-by-Step Instructions for Italian Sausage Casserole Recipe
This recipe is very easy to make. First you will need to set the oven temperature to 350 degrees to preheat the oven. Then you will need to grease the pie dish. Next you take the sausage meat and press it firmly into the bottom of the pan until the base of the pan is covered with the meat. Once you have completed this step, place the pie pan in a large baking tray and place in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes.
Please note that the total time of this recipe assumes that you have previously made the roasted heirloom tomatoes. If you do not have them made or do not have the time, you can substitute with sun dried tomatoes or raw tomatoes in place of the roasted tomatoes.
While the crust is baking, chop the green onion, roasted red pepper, provolone cheese slices and mint. By this time, 10 minutes should have passed and it is time to take the sausage crust out of the oven. Set it aside while preparing the egg mixture.
Take a medium-sized bowl and crack 6 eggs into the bowl and add the sea salt and black pepper. Add all of the chopped ingredients including the tomatoes.
Using a whisk, combine all the ingredients. Pour the egg mixture into the sausage crust and place back in the oven and bake for 45 minutes at the same temperature of 350 degrees.
